Why did Ala-ud-din Khalji brand the horses of his stable?

Answer:

The horses Ala-ud-din Khilji bought for his army were imported and of good quality.

He wanted to prevent the mixing of these horses with indigenous horses in India and hence he branded them by a practice called 'Dagh'.
