Alauddin Khilji attacked Chittor in 1303. After winning Gujarat and Ranthambore the first reason for annexing Chittor was his expansionist policy.
Jayasi wrote in his poetic style that Alauddin attacked Chittor to win queen Padmavati as he was attracted by her beauty but most of the historians have rejected this theory.
