Why did Ali went to the post office daily?

when Ali's daughter Marium got married and left Ali ,he understood the meaning of love and separation. When no message of Marium came, so he decided to go to post office. So from last five years Ali went to the post office everyday in the hope that one day the letter from his daughter  would come. The letter finally arrives one the , but Ali is dead by that time..
