In ancien days Greek geographers made maps with the help of imaginary attitudes and longitude which are not accurate. They also took the help of different traders, artisans and from sailors to make the maps because these traders and sailors always used to travel. So from gathering information from the places they visited they made imaginary maps which are not accurate so due to the lack of advanced technology they failed to measure accurate measurements. So they thought it is impossible to measure accurately.
