1) Anil started doubting the trustworthiness of an adults bird because the captain and adult had promised to take him along with himself on the voyage but did not keep it.
2) he planned to be very watchful for the next year so that when captain Macwhirr returned he would not make a mistake and be on the ship long before it sailed.
