Anne Frank considered diary as her best friend because she had been going through a lot of hard times and challenges in every day and moment and she needed someone with whom or where she could share these with.

In case of diary she would not have to fear about any secret getting revealed to anyone just as it happened when we confide our secrets with other humans.

She was just a thirteen year old girl and this was a medium to give vent to how she felt every moment, her fears, her anxieties, her hardships and just everything. So she used it as a therapy.
