Why did Ashoka give up his ambition of Digvijaya?​

When the king Ashoka became the ruler of the kingdom, he was very bad in nature. But when many people died in the Kalinga war, the king be came very sad. Then he coverted to buddhism and began to preach the message of peace.

For this Ashoka give up the ambition of digvijaya.
