why did Aurangzeb become extremely unpopular

Aurangzeb started putting taxes on non-Muslims which were called jaziya tax and these taxes were end up at Akbar's ruling. this caused hardships and famine for the ordinary Indian............ All Hindu group declared Aurangzeb as a unpopular and unsuccessful ruler.
