bassanio did not choose silver casket as it was pale and common.He did not choose golden casket as he thought  one shouldn't judge an object by only  its appearance.He chose the lead casket as the inscription on lead casket said(who chooses me shall give and risk all that he has) he was ready to risk and give anything to get portia's hand in marriage
