This question is based on the short story 'Bholi.'

Bholi talked very little because of the following two reasons :

1. Bholi had fallen from the bed when she was two years old. This accident damaged her brain affecting her mental health and causing a speech disorder. She could not speak properly because of this speech disorder and started stammering whenever she tried to speak and spoke incorrect words.

2. Bholi suffered from an inferiority complex because of her stammering problem. Other children made fun of her by copying her. Her parents were uneducated and so, did not encourage and motivate her to speak. The villagers regarded her as a simpleton which greatly irritated her.
