why did Bombay become the centre of trade during colonial period?

i think when europeans came to india then they should enter arabian sea.so at that time in that coastal region there were only places like goa,bombay,gujarat,etc .so at that time bombay was one of the main place and it had very big port.so bombay became center of trading during colonial period
