dude

here is your answer

Belgium's ports were close to theBritish coast and German control of Belgium would have been seen as a serious threat to Britain. In the end,Britain refused to ignore the events of 4 August 1914, when Germany attacked France through Belgium. Within hours, Britain declared war onGermany.

Unlike World War Two, World War One was a series of small alliances that got blown out of proportion to all out European War, some of these Alliances included:

Austria-Hungary and Germany

Russia and France

Russia and Serbia

England and Belgium.

So, a small history, Serbian Nationalist Gavrilo Princep shoots Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand (Heir to the Austrian Throne) on June 28th, 1914. Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia after Conrad Von Hotzendorf persuades the Austrian Emperor to do so. Russia declares War on Austria Hungary and staying true to their Alliance, Germany declares War on Russia. France declares War on Germany.

As you can see, the plan takes Germany through Belgium, which had their independence guaranteed by Great Britain, and therefore when the plan was put in place, England declared War on Germany on August 4th, 1914, bringing almost all of European Continent in to War.
