Bengal was a large state and a major center for trade . Due to the repressive policies of the britishers the mutiny here was increasing therefore the British found it difficult to control the rising steps of nationalist

Thus,
Because of the rising opposition and mutiny there Bengal was partitioned

They decided to partition it under Lord curzon and follow policy of divide and rule
