In 1905 British govt (government) divided Bengal into East & West. The official expansion of this partition is only for administrative purpose, But the secret idea behind this is to divide and rule policy.The protest against this partition is called ‘Swedeshi movement’ (swadeshi=Native),t means to boycott the British products,institutions, functions of British & only use swadeshi(native) products.Lord Curzon partitioned Bengal in 1905. He said that it's for the administrative purpose but the real reason was to seperate the Muslims of East Bengal from the rest of the Bengal and thereby weakened the Congress. Also Bengal was a stronghold of the Congress.
