Team sports were seen as a systematic approach of teaching English youngsters, the importance of acknowledging bureaucracy and the professions, the principles of righteousness and the administration features needed to build and run a provincial empire. The British imperialists supported their colonialism by observing it as an act of selfless social setting through which the underprivileged societies of Africa and Asia could be ‘enlightened’. Cricket served the imperialists in strengthening this favorable self-image, by honoring the beginner model of ‘cricket not for victory but for the spirit of fair play’.
