the official documents were preserved so that it would be easier for the british or any other person to know about the decisions taken in the past. One can study these notes or reports that were prepared in the past......

It might also be because most these were confidential information about india and they did not want any foreign invaders to get access to it... I am not very sure... About the ans but i think it might be a cause
