Charley wanted to go to Galesburg, a rural town in Illinois with his wife. It represented a simpler, easier, more idyllic life, an idyllic world to him.

Answer:

In 1894, Galesburg had been a happy little town as the First World War was twenty years in future and the Second World War was forty years away. There were no unhappy people for Sam to treat and hence his business as psychiatrist wouldnt be profitable or help him earn a living. Sam had bought eight hundred dollars worth of old style currency which ought to help him set up a nice little hay, feed and grain business. This is the kind of job Sam had wanted to do and the Third level had given him the chance to live a peaceful, happy life just the way he wanted to.

Hope it helps!
