Why did charlie have a mental break down

he was a man to make people happy and laugh around them. he show some funny things. so all are said he have mental breakdown.

Charlie had a  mental break down because of the Dorothy's habit of correcting him now and then . Even in him dreams too. He soon began to live in his dreams world and he began to stay in shadows.My feelings in this would be don't try to correct people everytime when you don't know the whole story behind it .
