Why did Christianity not fade away with the crucifixion of Christ?

The crucifixion of Christ did not mean the end of his teachings. Though he had a small group of followers till then, but after his death his followers spread ed his teachings worldwide and therefore Christianity continued to flourish even after Christ's death.

                                            By AD350, the followers of Christianity reached 30 million and at present the followers are over 2 billion. A major reason for this flourish may be considered as the adaptation of Christianity by the Roman Emperor Constantine. Since the Roman Empire was huge, many followers gathered and therefore Christianity flourished.
