Because there was created a cinflict between sinhalese and other groups in minority like tamils .they are not allowed in getting govermentaljobs, studies in unversity and many things were there which madea great differnce between the majority and minority thats why the civil war broke out in sri lanka.

A better understanding between the Sinhalese and Tamil which led to uncovering many other corruptions in the government who used the chaos to their advantage!

Like seriously while both sides did commit unimaginable atrocities it wasn't the collective idea as a whole but rather the psychotic ideas of the individuals and their cynical beliefsā€¦

A lot of families, Tamil and Sinhalese, are still affected by it. But at least its all ended!

Still cool.

The Sri Lankan Civil War was an armed conflict fought on the island of Sri Lanka. Beginning on 23 July 1983, there was an intermittent insurgency against the government by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (the LTTE, also known as the Tamil Tigers), which fought to create an independent Tamil state called Tamil Eelam in the north and the east of the island. After a 26-year military campaign, the Sri Lankan military defeated the Tamil Tigers in May 2009, bringing the civil war to an end.
