In Sri Lanka there were many ethnic groups like sinhalas and tamils... The sinhalas were in majority 74% where as tamils were only 13%. This created majority rule.. Govt. Passed laws in favour of sinhalas and discriminated tamils... Sinhalas was made official language thus degrading tamils... Also in many institutions there were reservations for sinhala people.. The jobs were given to sinhala.
This created an alienation among tamils they protested for their equal rights but government just ignored their demands..
This created a civil war between two communities.
Thousands of tamils were forced to flee and many were killed.....
