The communal problem becomes acute when :
• Religion is seen as the basis of the nation.
• When one religion and its followers are discriminated against another.
• When people start believing that beliefs of one religion are superior to those of other religions.
• When the demands of one religious group are formed in opposition to another.
• When the state power is used to establish the domination of one religious group over the rest.

The problem of communalism:

  • The problem becomes more acute when religion is articulated in politics in special and partisan terms when one religion and its fans are pitted against another.
  • Communalists are deeply critical of modern cities, citing urban sprawl, suburbanization, car culture, traffic jamming, noise pollution, and other negative externalities as having great impacts on the local environment and society as a whole.
