To gain tax from other rulers because Indian gave pension only to Indians and for that British also made a policy of dual system.
In this, the Nawab became a puppet under the hands of British, he had no powers but too much responsibilities and on the other hand, company had enough political power but no responsibilities

The company wanted puppet who would willingly give trade concession and other privileges.
