Corsets kept the waists of women tight and hence made their waists slim which made them look more gorgeous. The rulers wanted women to be pretty.

The women of the Victorian period were supposed to be wedded and take care of her spouse and kids. Clothing formulated a fundamental part of the Victorian community. A female of upper-class had helpers to do all the jobs while the women of lower levels were expected to do the work.

Tightly strapped corsets which has to wear upon closely-fitted clothes indicated that the woman belongs to the upper-class families.

When the Victorian women started venturing into male-dominated sports activities, multiple types of corsets were offered to suit the sportswear costumes for ladies.
