Why did Dr Radhakrishnan choose to study Philosophy at college

Dr Radhakrishnan's reason for choosing philosophy for his MA were the free textbooks he got from a cousin! After completing his school education, Radhakrishnan's father wanted him to become a priest at a temple rather than study further.
