During Wellesy's regime East India company incurred huge financial burden, because in the year 1600, Queen Elizabeth was petitioned by Sir Thomas Smythe, who was the leader of the group of London merchants, for the purpose of trading with the countries, which were situated in the eastern side.
The families belonging to Maratha were ruthlessly killed by Lord Wellesly by the British army, in the year 1803 to 1805. This was one of the major reason for bringing financial burden.
