Subsidiary alliance system
- He introduced the Subsidiary alliance system which is an agreement between native Indian ruler and English east India Company.
- According to the system, the company protected the native state against invasion by French and in return a subsidy was too paid to the company.
- This system was not accepted by all and a league was formed by the Indian rulers against the British.
- As a result there was an increase of Lord Wellington's military expenditure, and this caused a financial burden to the east India Company.
- This was condemned by the English Ministers.
