The English East India Company attempted financial stability for much rare than the end. The Company victoriously fought the battle of Buxar in 1764 and receives the lordship of Bengal, directly replacing itself the incompetence of adequate leaders. Several battles of the company were attempts to balance the monetary contingency of the company. Though the company accumulated revenue vigorously it could not meet the requirement for money. The harsh means of the company appeared in the famine of Bengal; that caused the death of around 7–10 million people. All these incidents led the British Crown to take the power of direct rule in 1858. Thereon, the Colonial government approved the same means of revenue collection as the Mughal Empire administered. However, during the time of Wellesley, all the arrangements got abandoned that could increase the income of the company due to various reasons such as wars (Marathas, Mysore etc.) and the famine of Bengal.
