During Wellesley regime, the East India Company incurred unusual financial burden because of some unprecedented events like lingering war with Maratha dynasty, expensive Buxar war, Anglo-Mysore war, etc.
which drained money from the treasury of the companyin a massive way. Simultaneously, the Famine of Bengal caused great deficit in revenue collection of the company which also caused financial burden for theBritish rulers.
