Private Quelch was an extremely intelligent man who had the knowledge of all day to day things.At first they all respect him but soon they realized that he used to just outshone others. He used to correct his mates in the public. He used to say them 'this way chaps', "not like this you old man".This behaviour of Quelch used to embarrace his mates. That's why they dislikes him.
