The emperor of France ruled like an autocrat and maintained a luxurious lifestyle. Besides this, he actively participated in the war. Therefore, to finance the war he increased the burden of the taxes on common people particularly on the Third Estate. Moreover, to maintain an army, running the administration and to meet its regular expenses the French government increase taxes. This increase in the taxes became one of the causes for the revolution in France.
