Gandhi's sanskrit teacher's name was Krishna Shankar Pandya. Gandhi respected his advice to sit in the Sanskrit class. He took up Sanskrit and learnt it. The little Sanskrit he learnt then helped him take interest in the sacred books of that language. The knowledge je acquired in Sanskrit was due to the fervent advice and effort of his Sanskrit teacher Mr. Pandya. So he was profoundly grateful to him for his invaluable advice.
