Gandhi ji decided to break the salt law because britishers were selling the salt at very high price and was not of good quality.....Gandhi ji was not satisfied with this law so he decided to break the salt law for benifits of indians...

When the East India Company took charge of india - it heavily increased tax on salt. In 1858, the crown took over the country from the Company but the salt tax was not revoked. Indian's were burdened by this as salt had become a sort of luxury items. In 1930 Mahatma Gandhi decided to break the salt law as a symbol civil disobedience.
