As Gandhi ji was an Indian activist,so he always thought about the welfare of India by following the principle of non -violence.Gandhi ji opposed to colonial rule because day by day the colonial rulers were enslaving Indians by imposing their own administrative rules and regulations like western education, etc. As Gandhi ji wanted a self independent country and whose people should be self reliant. As the colonial rule was enhancing racism ,that is prejudices , discrimination against the the other person considering their own race superior.Like the colonial rulers who consider themselves as superior on the basis of their race and discriminate the Indians by subjugating them and considering them as inferior.the colonial rulers (the Britishers) also inflict violence against the Indians and tried to take Indians under their control.so Gandhi ji was opposed to colonial rule as he want India to be a united country and did not want that it's nationalist feeling can be hurt by anyone.
hope this will help a little
