why did Gandhiji call off Rowlatt satyagraha?

ANSWER :

⇒ The Rowlatt Act authorised the Government to arrest anyone without warrant.

⇒ It was introduced to curb the growing upsurge of the Indians.

⇒ It implied suspension of the Right to Habeas Corpus and the restriction of movement including the camera trial .

⇒ The Rowlatt Act was introduced on February , 1919 and was a sudden blow to the Indians because it removed the basic freedom and justice of the Indians

⇒ Gandhiji appealed to the Viceroy but this appeal was ignored !

⇒ Hence , Gandhiji started Satyagraha to challenge the British Government for the introduction of the Rowlatt Act.

TO OPPOSE THE ROWLATT ACT, IN THIS ACT BRITISH GOVERNMENT PASSED AN LAW IN WHICH PEOPLES WHO OPPOSE BRITISH GOVERNMENT ARE JAILED FOR 2 YEARS WITHOUT ANY JUDICIALY DECISION OR WITHOUT ANY CASE OR CHARGESHEET.
