The proposed Rowlatt Act 1919 was hurriedly passed through Imperial Legislative Council .This act gave the government enormous powers .
Mahatma Gandhi wanted to protest against this Act as it was unjust.

1)It all started with a Hartal on 6th April,1919.
2) People went out on rallies in various cities,shops closed down.
3) Widespread attacks on banks, post offices, railway offices.
