Gandhi led the Non Cooperation movement to protest against the British, for their cowardly act at Jalianwala Bagh of Amritsar.

He wished the movement to be violent free, and with the violence being stuck at chauri chaura, Gandhi had no other option than to call of Non Cooperation Movement.

Mahatma Gandhi launched Non Cooperation movement against the mass killings of innocent people in Jallianwala bagh and rowlatt act. This movement so supported Indian Muslims and their Khilafat movement. Non Cooperation movement was launched in 1920.

The programmes which were undertaken during this movement were:

Positive programmes:

❏ Distribution of charakas to the unemployed people.

❏ Setting up Congress legislative bodies

❏ Formulation and implementation of National Educational plans.

Negative programmes:

❏ Boycotting British goods.

❏ Resigning from the British offices.

❏ Boycotting British courts, schools, offices, etc.

❏ Renouncing British titles and Honarary offices.
