After the Cripps Mission failed, the Congress decided to launch the third mass movement against the British and thus, in August 1942, Gandhiji gave the slogan Quit india and the all India Congress committee met on August 8 to pass the Quit India resolution.

Quit India resolution was passed on August 8,1942 at Gowalia Tank, Bombay. It was actually a last resolve. I think everyone was getting restless. People were fighting for so long. Gandhi told the British to" Leave Indian in God's hand".His message was 'Do or Die'.
