[ (b) To protest against high revenue demand]
Mahatma Gandhi organised a Satyagraha in 1917 in Kheda district of Gujarat in order to protest against high revenue demand.
The British following the Agrarian policies imposed many taxes and also in huge amount . This wasn't possible for the peasants to pay. If they couldn't pay the taxes ; their lands were seized due to which peasants had no income and they died.
There was another reason for lower tax payers . Outbreak of a plague . This was during the time of World War I .
This also led go to crop failure .
British didn't have any relation with crop failure or anything. They just needed taxes.
