Gandhiji started the Champaran act of 1917 when they returned to India in 1915 as in Champaran district the peasants and the roads are forced to grow only those crops which are indispensable for the British Industries at that time Indigo was very demanded so in Champaran district of Bihar British forced the farmers to grow only Indigo on the 328 part of your land also the British pay a very low taxes to the Indigo show the peasants where where it is satisfied with the situation needed to them their for Gandhiji started Champaran in which the forced the Britishers to increase the rate of the Indigo so that the farmers could gain profit
