Though I don't have any concrete basis for my answer, nevertheless I think that Mr. Gandhi was personally disheartened by the non-inclusion or rather non-interference of the members of the Muslim league in the framing of the Constitution. Mr.Gandhi was predominantly of the opinion that the Constitution be framed unanimously by the prominent figures of that time.
And that may be the reason that he did not personally interfere and kept himself completely aloof from the constituent assembly.
