Gandhiji believed on the principles of non violence. His power hence always kept on increasing. Every small thing Gandhiji started was supported by millions of people all round India. When salt taxation started, Gandhiji purely believed that salt and water are something that you need in daily life i.e everyday needs. Hence he revolted about it sending a world wide realisation to people and hence starting an agitation. He was the mastermind behind the salt satyagraha. And knowing that he was going in the right direction he found salt was a powerful symbol that could unite the nation

gandhiji took salt as a very powerful symbol to unite the the whole Indian communities under a single moment because salt was the things which everyone used most of the time and while breaking salt law a message can be sent into whole communities that they could also identify them within the movement and they also can participate within the movement with their small efforts like that. also the thing which inspired gandhiji to cook salt as a symbol of the movement was that salt was basically associated with the kitchen and ultimately two women and it also lead to women empowerment.
