this was bcoz earlier their were many agriculturists and hunters who had to kill animals in order to earn profits. the agriculturists had to kill the pests and the hunters' job was to kill animals. hence, many animals were getting killed. so they stressed more on following ahimsa so that animals weren't killed and wildlife was saved
