Hyperinflation happened in Germany in 1923 when the Weimar government printed banknotes to pay reparations.

Explanation:

  • Germany was previously experiencing inflation due to the war and the increasing government debt because of the Treaty of Versailles.
  • To pay the reparations and people working in industries, the German government printed more money.
  • This printing of more money led to hyperinflation as the more money printed, prices rose.
  • The United States dragged German out of hyperinflation.
