Muhammad Ghori , also known as Muhammad of Ghur and Muizuddin bin Sam , invaded India with a clear aim of establishing an empire.

They just wanted to rule over India and establish a vast empire. They did not wanted only to plunder the wealth like Mahmud of Ghazni.

  • The nature of his invasion was, therefore , different from that of Mahmud of Ghazni .

  • He was the one who laid the foundation of the Delhi sultanate.

  • Ghori reached Peshawar in 1179 CE.He launched an attack and captured it.

  • Punjab was ruled by Khusrau Malik.Ghori killed him in 1192 CE and captured Punjab.

  • However , his untimely death in 1206 CE put a stop to his further conquests
