Geppetto take a boat because boat is the vessel Geppetto uses when he goes to sea and searches for Pinocchio.

It is unknown how Geppetto obtained the ship, but it presumably happened after Pinocchio was bought by Stromboli. The ship is shown to have several rooms, including a bedroom. Also attached is a small raft.
