Why did helen do not answer properly before the court

Helen didn't answer the court properly because she was very much confident that the book which she has written , "The Frost King" is not copied . But the exactly same story was published in "Birdie and his Friends" as "The Frost King" . She was facing plagiarism from Miss Canby. This incident led a fear of writing in Helen's mind.
