I think Hilda just likes to make different types of jam. I'm sure she sold them at a farmers market too (but I think that might be an excuse from Sabrina to her boyfriend).
Hilda does seem to have a way with magic using it in food, such as the cake that makes you tell the truth. I'm sure there was something with jam as well, I will try and find it.
It wouldn't surprise me if she was using magic in her jams. It could explain how she knew everything about the bullies picking on Susie in the bookstore. Maybe she embeds her magic into the jam so when you eat it, she learns everything about you. So she makes a lot of jam that taste really good (gotta sell good jam), then sells it each year at the farmers market and if everyone knows about this really good jam then they will buy it. Hilda could be one of the most all knowing person in Greendale and maybe even the smartest.
Who knows though, maybe it's just a hobby.
