Hitler did not expect a black athlete to win gold medal at the 1936 Olympics, held in Berlin. He hoped to prove to the massive crowd present at the event, that ‘Aryan supremacy’ would prevail.

Luz Long was a German long jumper who helped Jesse Owens with technical advice in long jump, and Jesse Owens went on to win the gold medal in the event. Hitler would have glared at Luz Long for aiding Jesse Owen’s victory, while Luz Long could only win the silver medal.

Hitler glared at them from the stands not a hundred yards away, Luz shook Owen's hand hard and it was not a fake smile with a broken heart sort of grip either.

This clearly shows how happy was Luz and how disappointed was Hitler as he thought of proving "Aryan Supermarcy"
