Hooper had a hard time deciding whether he should buy Duke or not. Duke was a huge dog weighing 23 kilos. Marcy, his wife was a tiny blonde; a Pomeranian could suit her personality at home more than a doberman pinscher. Duke would require a lot of space, and it would be hard for Marcy to look after it. However, Duke's appeal, and rambunctiousness were irresistible. So finally Hooper bought it.
